Experience is a plus, but new/newer graduates will certainly be considered. Although we do a variety of surgical procedures, do not get discouraged in applying if you have no experience or interest in surgery - we could also use a good DVM for rooms and internal medicine.
Hours:
Typical full-time schedule is 4 days/week of 8am to 6pm. We see a large volume and variety of cases and typically appointments are scheduled 2-3 per hour. Schedules can very due to emergencies or cancelations so there may be days you are gone before or after 6, this is why we allow a 4 day full time position.
You will also be required to be on call 2-4 days per week depending on rotation for emergency call. We are one of the few clinics in the upper peninsula offering on-call emergency veterinary service and try to help as best as we can as the nearest emergency center is 3 hours away.

Veterinarian Job Responsibilities: * Maintains animal health by diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries. * Determines the nature of disease or injury by examining pets and/or large animals. * Restores animal health by treating animals surgically or medically. * Prevents rabies, brucellosis, and other disorders by testing animals and providing inoculations. * Promotes health of animals by advising animal owners about sanitation measures, feeding, and general care. * Documents actions by completing and updating forms, reports, and animal records and reporting diseases to public health officials. * Enhances clinic reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. * Foster a positive, cooperative, accommodative, and professional attitude with veterinary medical staff, employees, administration, referring veterinarians, and clients. * On-call availability is required on your scheduled workdays. * An occasional additional shift (8 am -6 pm) outside of your regularly scheduled hours may occur as mutually agreed upon and would be paid out as an additional shift. * Shared scheduling of the major holidays is expected with the Internal Medicine department, on a mutually agreed upon basis. * Discuss estimates and procedures to client.
