Does my pet need an appointment to be seen by the doctor?
Yes. To allow ample time for all patients, we operate primarily by appointment.

Do you require any vaccines?

We understand that sometimes you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. However, as a new patient if you do not cancel or reschedule an appointment within 24 hours of your appointment you will be removed as a future client.
Once you are an established client you will receive 3 chances however there are fees associated with these see complete details: www.thompsonvetclinic.com/no-show--late-policy.html

Records
When scheduling or attending a veterinary appointment, it is important to collect and organize your pet's relevant medical records. This includes past test results such as lab work, vaccine history, X-rays, or scans, a list of current medications and allergies, and a summary of any previous treatments or surgeries. Having this information readily available will assist your veterinarian in understanding your pet's health history and ensuring the best possible care. yOU CAN SEND THESE RECORDS VIA EMAIL:[email protected], FAX: 906-341-3595 OR tEXT 906-368-4503. ***PLease note as a new client, we will not finalize an establishment appointment until we have received your pet's previous records (if applicable).

Can I Drop My Pet Off and Return Later?
Yes, however we are not a day care For your convenience, ‘drop-off’ appointments are available but also sometimes are required depending on the type of appointment needed. When scheduling a drop off please note the exam fee may be higher than normal due to additional care being provided throughout the day. We usually ask you to drop your pet off sometime in the morning. The doctor will examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients.
Once the doctor has completed the exam or procedure, he/she will give you a call to go over any diagnosis, treatment, medication, etc. and schedule a time to pick up your pet.

What should I know About Arriving for My Pet’s Appointment?
For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. Cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets.

We ALSO offer pagers; this allows pets to wait outside or in their vehicle rather than in the lobby which can be more comfortable for some.

What Forms of Payment Do You Accept?
We require full payment at the time that services are rendered.
For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Care Credit, and Cash. we will not accept personal checks until you become an established client.

Do you offer texting?
Yes! 906-368-4503 This is extremely helpful for prescription refills, sending photos of an injury, requesting an appointment and so much more. Our texting line comes directly to our office, therefore, you will only receive a response during office hours.

Emergency cases always receive top priority!!
An occasional appointment delay or reschedule is inevitable due to unforeseen circumstances and emergencies. Please realize that we will make a sincere effort to see each client on time.

AFTER HOURS EMERGENCY VISITS: 906-341-2813 OPTION 1
Emergency call is shared between Escanaba Veterinary Clinic and Thompson Veterinary Clinic. This will require you to drive to either location depending on who is on call. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by additional travel time. Our goal is to ensure that weekend and holiday emergency veterinary care remains accessible to our communities, while also maintaining a positive work environment for our veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.

Did your pet ingest something? Please contact PET POISON CONTROL at 800-213-6680 immediately. They will provide guidance and determine whether a medical emergency is present. Be prepared to provide details about what was ingested and obtain the case number so we can follow up and receive the appropriate treatment protocol. Please note that there is a fee for this service that is not covered by TVC/EVC; in most cases of ingestion, a call is necessary to determine treatment, and this fee will be the owner's responsibility. This may also mean that you won't need to come in after speaking with the Pet Poison Control, as they may advise you that an emergency room visit is not necessary.

Do you offer 24 hour care?
No, Animals that require 24-hour monitoring or specialized care may be referred to a 24-hour emergency clinic in Green Bay, WI or Traverse City, MI.

Do you offer large animal er?
If you use TVC for your horses, livestock or other "farm animals", please be advised we have limited availability for ambulatory emergency farm calls. If you need a large animal veterinarian after hours you will be directed to Thompson Veterinary Clinic for haul in services in Manistique. There may be some weekends when we do not have a doctor available and in that case we will provide you with the closest facility available.
